Learn how to configure your custom branded domain on U301.
This guide is designed to help you set up your own custom short domain, keeping technical jargon to a minimum. If you encounter any difficulties, we recommend consulting your IT department or contacting us directly.
What is a Short Domain and How to Choose One?
Before you start using branded short links, you need to choose a short domain. This is typically different from your main business domain.
For example, Google uses goo.gl for short links, while Twitter uses t.co.
A resulting short link looks like goo.gl/abc123.
Take our user Sijin as an example. After consulting with us, he purchased the domain sire.al for his main website sireal.co.
This is much shorter and more brand-aligned than using something like s.sireal.co.
Please Do Not Use Your Main Business Domain
We often see users mistakenly entering their main business domain instead of a separate short domain. Please be aware of the difference between your primary website and your short link domain.
If you see this screenshot, please check if you have entered your main business domain by mistake.
If you don't plan to purchase a separate short domain, you can use a subdomain. For instance, if you own example.com, you could use s.example.com as your short domain.
This allows you to shorten https://www.example.com/blog/2025-11-20.html to https://s.example.com/20251120.
How to Configure Your Domain
Once you've chosen your domain, the next step is to configure the DNS. Usually, you can ask your IT support for help. However, if you don't have IT support, you have two options:
- Connect with Cloudflare We have integrated with Cloudflare. If your domain is already on Cloudflare, simply click "Connect with Cloudflare" in your domain list and authorize the connection to complete the configuration.
Click "Authorize" in Cloudflare to configure it correctly.
When shortening a URL, simply select your domain to use it.

- If you use other platforms and have no IT support
Please email us with details about your domain registrar and the issues you are facing. We will help you set up your DNS correctly. This service is for all U301 users, also available to free plan users, so please feel free to contact us.
